WHO WE ARE?

Grapevine is a Christian community that embraces and seeks to live out God’s story revealed to us by the Spirit of God through Scripture,

WHAT WE DO?

When reading the first disciples’ accounts in the New Testament of following Jesus, we are hearing from those who, after Jesus’ death, resurrection, ascension and outpouring of the Holy Spirit, experienced the foretaste of a restored way of life – the life of the age to come. They lived with an expectation that their way of life in the present was a preparation to rule with God forever when Jesus reappears to make everything new. They experienced this present kingdom way of life through their daily devotion to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship, to breaking of bread and to prayer.
Because of what we learn from the big story in Scripture, the Grapevine community is committed to values and practices that lead to a kingdom way of life

HOW WE SEE OUR PLACE IN THE WORLD

The biblical story reveals God as the Creator of the world – a place for humanity to enjoy God’s presence, and where we rule over creation with Him. In this story we learn that, because the first humans failed to become participating partners in His active rule over His good creation, the world became increasingly corrupted, and thus needed to be rescued and restored. God, true to His nature of love, initiated a redemptive plan to rescue the world through the Seed of Abraham. God’s story progresses slowly from Genesis 12 and through the story of Israel’s Exodus; the rule of the kings; the exile in Babylon; the return of the exiles to Jerusalem; to the birth of John the Baptist (the last of the Old Testament prophets) and all the way to the birth of Jesus Christ – the Seed of Abraham. God’s rescue plan reaches a climax when Jesus is put to death on a Roman cross as requested by the Jews in Jerusalem, bringing to an end old creation, and reestablishing new creation through His resurrection.
